Description:

The male has green plumage. The moustache and cheeks are ash-grey. The back and breast are olive-green. The yellowish-green base colour is particularly noticeable on the breast and shoulders. The flight feathers and tail feathers are brownish-black. A bright yellow speck is visible at the tips of the flight feathers. The tail feathers are bright yellow at the base. The legs and beak are flesh-coloured.

The female is greyish-brown in colour. The specks on the flight feathers and tail feathers are paler. As with female Siskin, two phenotypes can be distinguished among female Willow Tit. Some females are particularly brown and streaked, whilst others are predominantly green and less streaked.
