Description:
Habitat: Africa.
The male has light grey-brown plumage, except for the rump and wing bars, which are white. The female is slightly browner.
For years we have been encouraging breeders to breed this canary in captivity. But until now, no one has really taken an interest in it, apart from a few enthusiasts. Why take an interest in birds that can be found in large numbers in pet shops and imported from Africa at low cost? The answer is now clear: avian influenza has struck, imports have been halted, and we must focus on preserving and breeding the birds we already have. Please note, the African Songbird, or White-rumped Serin, is far from easy to keep. It requires a lot of attention. A cage measuring 1.20 m × 0.50 m × 0.50 m is recommended for a pair.
