Description:

The Mexican House Finch is very common in European breeding programmes. Its range includes south-western Canada, the United States (with the exception of the central region), Hawaii and Mexico. Its habitat comprises orchards, gardens, parks, fields and canyons.
In the male, the forehead, throat and rump are red. There are distinct streaks on the belly and beige/chamois-coloured wing bars.
The female lacks red but is very heavily streaked.
