Description:
Habitat: The Serin cini is our European serin! It is found throughout Europe, in North Africa, in the Mediterranean region, as far as Estonia and Ukraine. In spring, its song is particularly distinctive; for me, it’s the sign that the breeding season has begun. The male has predominantly yellow plumage on the breast, head, forehead and rump. The breast and flanks are streaked with brownish-black. The cheeks are marked with greenish-yellow, as is the top of the head. The back is greenish-yellow, streaked with brownish-black.The wing bars are pale yellow. This charming visitor to our gardens and parks requires an aviary measuring approximately 2 m × 1 m × 1 m in order to breed. Females find it difficult to nest in breeding cages.
