Description: Larger than the Crested Tit, the Rufous-naped Tit has a black crest and predominantly black plumage. Its white cheeks contrast sharply with the black of its head, which extends onto its breast and belly. Rufous markings are visible on the nape, shoulders and lower belly. The flanks are grey, the back is grey-brown, and the flight feathers and tail are charcoal grey
The Red-necked Tit’s range includes the Himalayas, India, China, Pakistan, Turkestan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan. It is a very active and territorial bird and must be housed in an individual aviary. Diet: live and frozen insects, insectivore feed, millet in clusters, small sunflower seeds. Loves spiders. A cave-dweller, it nests in closed, log-style nesting boxes. Requires a great deal of attention.
