Description:
I have rarely seen this Grosbeak on display or in captivity. With the closure of borders, it can now only be observed in specialist breeding centres.
It is found from northern Pakistan to south-eastern Tibet, western China, northern Burma and northern Thailand.
The male has black on the head, chin and throat. The tips of the feathers are bluish-black. The tips of the greater wing coverts and secondary flight feathers, as well as the edges of the tertiary and primary flight feathers, are yellowish-white.
The female is streaked with yellow and black. The tips of the secondary coverts are pale yellow.
